Nominations and Awards
“The highest reward for a person’s work is not what they get for it, but what they become because of it”
- John Ruskin
Our opportunity to recognize the people who have truly made a difference in
arboriculture takes place at our annual conference. This is our chance
to
show appreciation, enlighten membership and inspire from within. Over
the
years, we have learned of numerous Arbor Day projects, educational efforts,
met awesome individuals from communities of all sizes, just to name a few.
Please take the time to think about worthy people or projects, then take
the next 'opportunity' by actually nominating them.
Also, consider how you may help others within our organization. Would you consider serving on a committee, or as a member of our Board of Directors?
WAA Board Members are anxious to speak with
you. Please share your thoughts, and better yet "volunteer" to get involved as a volunteer for "WAA's Day of Service", or by serving on a committee.
2013 Awards:
WAA Honorary Life Membership
This is WAA's most prestigious award. It is the highest form of
appreciation the WAA can show to one of its members. This award was granted to
Linda Barcz.
WAA Distinguished Service Award
This award is presented to an individual who has made extraordinary
contributions of their time and talent to the WAA.
In 2013, Cathy Brodbeck was
recognized with this award.
WAA Monster Pole Saw
Each year WAA honors an individual with a giant (Monster) pole saw. After 5 years of traveling the world with Dave Graham, the Monster Pole Saw was awarded to Dave Scharfenberger at the 2013 WAA Annual Conference.
